Hello everyone,
Happy to see some have read my first post, it makes me so happy to see people are interested in what advice I have!
Well like the title says, knowing your skin. You need to know what sets you off like stress, certain washing powders for clothing, creams, makeup, perfume and cigarette smoke, things like that even diet can affect you.
It's easy for some people to buy anything and just put on their skin and call it a day, but when you have skin like mine that is sensitive, you can't just buy anything and be fine.
Yes, I have done this many times and everytime I do it my skin doesn't like it and I get a reaction which sets off my eczema. That usually means I scratch until I end up bleeding.
Things I have learned over the years is to try everything. Yes that's right you have to literally try everything to find out what works for you as everyone is different. But if you have similar skin to mine, I can give my account on what you can avoid. But you can try them as they could honestly work for you!
I've tried the top eczema cream from when I was young like E45, I've gone to the doctors got creams from them and steroid creams to help calm my eczema. As I have it from head to foot, the most high risk areas on me and most people with eczema is in the creases of the elbows and the backs of the knees. When I was going through puberty it went into my hair, to this day I still get it when I have flare ups. Although they are rare now I know there are a few creams I can turn to that will settle things down. I've tried all the top brands in skin care over the years like Olay, Neutrogena, Tea tree, Nivea to name a few. For me they worked when I first started using them but after a few days they made my skin flare up in a rash and it took weeks for everything to calm down again.
Doublebase is a good one its a basic moisturizer that you can get from the doctors or just asking a pharmacist.
Botanics night cream is one of my holy grail ones as I know I can come back to that one over and over even if my skin has a flare up and I need to try something different, I can go back to it months later and it works. It's so nourishing to my skin it really helps bring it back from being dry and irritated! As I'm writing this for you to read I'm not using it at the moment with testing new products out I've come away from it and I've kept one just in case something doesn't agree with my skin.
My family worked out over the years as well that I can't change my washing powder I can only ever use Persil non bio and comfort, I only use this as it doesn't make my eczema flare up.
I'll make a part two where I'll be talking about how stress, diet, cigarette smoke and perfumes.
Hopefully you enjoy this piece I have for today! Leave a comment let me know what you find works for you in skincare and what you would recommend to other and me to try out?
See you in the next one! X
